Twenty years apart, two Argentina jerseys bookend the same career: the navy 2006 away shirt he wore as a teenager, and the gold 2026 farewell shirt he wore on his final night at the Monumental. Both are here in men’s, women’s and youth fits.
There is a neat, slightly brutal symmetry to the way Lionel Messi’s Argentina career is bookended. At one end is a teenager who had just turned nineteen, walking into a World Cup squad with a number on his back that nobody in Argentina was using yet. At the other is a thirty-nine-year-old captain finishing on 208 caps and 126 goals, walking off a sold-out Estadio Monumental after a 3–0 win over Benin. In between sit five World Cups, four senior trophies and the whole argument about who the best player has ever been.
This piece is about the two shirts at either end of that line, and the ones worth owning alongside them. The 2006 away shirt — the navy one, reissued as a bringback with MESSI 10 on the back — and the 2026 farewell shirt, the gold-accented special edition released for his last match. Then the two shirts Argentina actually wore at the 2026 World Cup, his last, and the 2006 home shirt for anyone who wants the pair complete.
Every product card below links to a live product page and shows the current price at the time of writing. Bringback shirts are reissues of historical designs, not the originals; the 2026 World Cup shirts are the current-season designs Argentina wore in the tournament.

The first: the 2006 Bringback Away
Messi’s Argentina career started in August 2005, in a friendly against Hungary that lasted barely a minute before a red card ended it. By the following summer he was in Germany for his first World Cup, nineteen years old, wearing 19 — the 10 was still occupied — and he came off the bench to score in the 6–0 win over Serbia and Montenegro that remains one of the most-watched Argentina performances of the modern era.
The shirt from that cycle is the navy one: dark blue with light-blue trim, the design Argentina wore away from home through 2006. This bringback reissues it with MESSI 10 on the back, which is the detail that makes it work as a piece of Messi history rather than just a nice Argentina away shirt. It is the shirt of the beginning — the one that belongs next to the 2026 farewell if you want the full arc on a wall or in a wardrobe.
The last: the 2026 Farewell Shirt
The other end of the line is the shirt Argentina wore on 6 October 2026, when Messi played his 208th and final international and scored a penalty in a 3–0 win over Benin at a sold-out Monumental. It is a one-off special edition rather than a regular kit, built around gold detailing and the Sun of May, and it exists for exactly one match.
It comes two ways: with MESSI 10 printed on the back, which is the version most people want, or blank, if you would rather have the design without the name — or put your own on it. Both are stocked across men’s, women’s and youth fits, so the whole family can be in the same shirt.
His last World Cup: the 2026 home shirt
The 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico was Messi’s sixth and final tournament. This is the shirt Argentina defended the title in.
The home shirt keeps the sky-blue and white vertical stripes that Argentina have worn for more than a century, but the blue bands are built from three shades, fading from dark to light — a deliberate reference to the three World Cups won in 1978, 1986 and 2022. The collar is a flat white band, the AFA crest sits centre-chest with three stars above it, and the year 1893 — the founding of the Argentine Football Association — is printed inside the back of the neck. It was released on 6 November 2025.
And the 2026 away shirt
The away shirt went the other way entirely. Released on 20 March 2026, it is black with a swirling blue graphic across the body, drawn from Argentine floral and climbing-plant motifs, with the word ARGENTINA and the Sun of May at the back of the neck. It is the shirt Argentina wore whenever the stripes clashed, which at a World Cup is roughly half the matches — so if you want the one that got worn as often as the home, it is this.
Complete the 2006 pair: the home shirt
If the away shirt is the one people remember, the home is the one Argentina played most of that cycle in — white with sky-blue stripes, the same template that carried the team through the 2006 World Cup and the run to the quarter-finals. It is reissued here with MESSI 10 on the back, in the same bringback series as the navy away, so the two sit together properly.
Owning both is the obvious move if you are building a Messi shelf rather than buying a single shirt: one navy, one white, one year, and the number he has been associated with ever since.
Men’s, women’s or youth: which fit
All four shirts in this article are stocked in three fits, and the difference is cut rather than design.
- Men’s — the straight, regular cut. This is the default and the one to pick if you want the shirt to sit like a match shirt, with room through the body.
- Women’s — the same shirt on a shaped cut, narrower through the waist and with a slightly shorter body. The crest, stripes and printing are identical.
- Youth — scaled for children, with the same design and the same MESSI 10 printing. The easiest way to get a family into the same shirt.
- Sizing up — if you are between sizes or plan to wear it over a hoodie, go one up. These are fan-cut shirts, not the tight player version.

FAQ
- What was Messi’s first Argentina shirt?
- His senior debut came in August 2005 against Hungary. The shirt most people mean by “his first” is the 2006 cycle kit — the navy away shirt or the white-and-sky-blue home — which is reissued here in the Bringback series with MESSI 10 on the back.
- What shirt did Messi wear in his last match?
- The 2026 Argentina farewell shirt, a one-off special edition with gold detailing made for the 6 October 2026 friendly against Benin at the Estadio Monumental. Argentina won 3–0 and Messi scored a penalty.
- Which shirts did Argentina wear at the 2026 World Cup?
- Two: the home shirt, sky-blue and white stripes with a three-shade blue fade, released on 6 November 2025; and the away shirt, black with a swirling blue pattern, released on 20 March 2026. Argentina did not have a second or third kit in the tournament.
- Are the 2006 shirts originals?
- No — they are bringback reissues of the 2006 designs, made new with MESSI 10 printed on the back. They are not match-worn or vintage originals.
- Can I get the farewell shirt without the name on the back?
- Yes. It is stocked both with MESSI 10 and with a blank back, in men’s, women’s and youth fits.
- Do all of these come in women’s and youth sizes?
- Yes. Every shirt in this article — the 2006 away, the 2006 home, the 2026 farewell and both 2026 World Cup shirts — is available in men’s, women’s and youth fits.
- Is Messi still playing?
- He has retired from international football only. He finished with 208 caps and 126 goals, both Argentina records, and continues his club career.
